Priscilla denies homophobia and declares support for the LGBT+ community

Priscilla, ex-Alcântara, denied being homophobic and declared support for the LGBT+ community during her appearance on the Poccast podcast on Wednesday, 22. The artist has already been the target of criticism after, for example, not singing part of the song Born This Way, by Lady Gaga, who mentioned gay, bisexual and trans people, in a cover. At the time, she was accused of homophobia.

The singer, who became known for her gospel career and for being part of the Evangelical Church, said that, before, she was in a place where she was “very afraid to openly say what she thought and believed for fear of retaliation.” After she left the Evangelical Church and gained maturity, she understood that she could express her own opinions.

“I don’t think gay people go to hell. I’m an ally of the cause [LGBT+]. At all times, speeches, throughout my career, I said what I could say, what I could say. I was very much a hostage, yes, of the space where I was. I was afraid of retaliation,” he added.

“And then I took the wing and started living what I believe, talking about what I believe. So, I left the conventional way, the accepted way, the ideal way, which is the one that is generally imposed on those who are in that environment. It’s not a pain of betrayal… I don’t know, I must be missed there”.
