Princess Märtha Louise celebrated Christmas with Durek Verrett in the USA

This year, the royal couple gathered with the Crown Prince’s family at Skaugum for a magnificent Christmas celebration. They also celebrated there last year, when large parts of the family were gathered. Princess Märtha Louise (50) and the children were also present then.

This year, Christmas is celebrated without Märtha and the children. They had made other plans – outside the Norwegian borders.

Celebrating in sunny California

According to Se og Hør’s experience, Märtha and all three daughters boarded a plane to the USA before Christmas, to celebrate with Durek Verrett (47) in sunny Los Angeles. There they will have plans to stay until after the New Year.

The Christmas celebration has also been caught in small glimpses on social media. Durek has shared a photo on Instagram’s story function, where he is seen posing with, among others, his girlfriend Märtha Louise, Leah Isadora (16) and Maud Angelica (18).

Several are dressed in elf costumes and have a big grin on their face. Emma Tallulah (13), on the other hand, is not to be seen in the picture, but must be present.

See and Hear royal house expert Caroline Vagle believes there may be several reasons why the princess has taken her family to Durek this year.

– Durek has celebrated Christmas in Norway twice, so now it might be time for him to show off his Christmas celebration in Los Angeles to his girlfriend and bonus daughters. The family has also had plans to move there, so then it is natural if the children will get to know the city even better first, she says.

A good relationship

See and listen recently wrote about Durek’s state of health, and about how the princess has shown invaluable support to her boyfriend. He has become kidney sick again, and must have dialysis several times a week. Therefore, he can not travel far.

For that reason, Vagle points to the state of health as one of the reasons why Christmas is celebrated in the USA and not here in Norway. Princess Märtha Louise has traveled regularly to the United States this year, instead of alternating between visiting each other as before.

The journeys, on the other hand, have been without the daughters.

– The family is probably very happy to be together again. Durek seems to have a very good relationship with the princess’ daughters, but now it has been a while since they had met him, says Vagle.

Light in the dark

Princess Märtha Louise and the children celebrated Christmas together with the royal family at Skaugum last year. It was an exception, says Caroline Vagle.

– The princess has traditionally celebrated every other Christmas with the royal couple, and every other Christmas at home in Lommedalen or with Ari’s family. It is therefore not unnatural that she is not with the royal family this year, she says.

However, Christmas took on a different meaning two years ago, when Ari Behn died. Märtha Louise has been open about grief, also this year.

Before Christmas, she shared a photo on Instagram of a Christmas calendar, sewn by, among others, Queen Sonja (84) and given to Princess Märtha Louise once upon a time. The calendar believes Märtha contributes to light in a darkness they can experience in the run-up to Christmas.

“Sometimes it’s heavy before Christmas. The days are dark and we are filled with longing and sorrow. Nevertheless, I have found out that we are taking Christmas back. That we should together be able to appreciate this time, at least now and then. That we should look forward to Christmas from time to time, even though we feel emptiness and longing “, she wrote, among other things.
