“The princess underwent an operation on Friday which went very well,” the palace said. “This procedure under general anesthesia is the last operation she had to undergo after the throat, nose and ear infection she previously suffered. She is now under observation for 48 hours.”

Charlene has been in her home country since May. She had flown to South Africa for a short work trip, but contracted a serious infection shortly after arrival. Her doctors had therefore advised her not to fly. The princess has had surgery before. When Prince Albert’s wife will return to Monaco, the palace could not yet say.
