Prince Philip died at the age of 99. His death was announced on Friday, April 9, in the early afternoon hours. Official announcements of the Prince’s death appeared on social media at the Clarence House and Kensington palaces. Their content is presented below.
Prince Charles, Princess Camilla, Prince William and Princess Kate bid farewell to Prince Philip
Both princely families shared the same message on their profiles. We read in it:
Her Majesty the Queen announces with great regret the death of her beloved husband, His Majesty Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. His Highness Prince Philip passed away peacefully this morning at the Windsor Palace. The Royal Family joins people around the world who mourn the loss of a prince. Further announcements will be made in due course.
This is exactly the same message that appeared on the official channels of communication from Buckingham Palace. The employees responsible for the Instagrams of princely families did not decide to commemorate Prince Philip in any way that might suggest a personal farewell by his closest relatives. Perhaps, as is the case with birth, engagement, and weddings in the royal family, it is only in the following hours that the princely duets will decide to mention their father, grandfather and father-in-law in more personal entries.
We remind you that some time ago Prince Philip left the hospital of St. Bartholomew in London, where he ended up at the end of February. He was under the constant observation of doctors and only uncertain messages got to the media, e.g. about cardiac surgery. In mid-March, however, the Duke was released from the hospital and spent the last weeks at his home, at Buckingham Palace.
We express our sincere condolences to the royal family and join us in pain with the British mourning Prince Philip.
