Prince Charles misses family: ‘My father will be 99 next week’ | NOW

British Prince Charles felt lonely during the coronavirus outbreak and still misses his family enormously, he said in an interview with Sky News for the program After The Pandemic: Our New World.

“Sometimes you just want to hug people. I haven’t seen my father in a long time. He’ll be 99 next week. Or my grandchildren,” said Prince Charles. “It’s terribly sad, but luckily you can at least speak to them over the phone. But it’s not the same, sometimes you really want to give people a hug.”

The 71-year-old crown prince himself became infected with the corona virus in March. This left him in isolation for a total of seven days. During that period he stayed with his wife Camilla at their home in Scotland. Camilla did not test positive for the virus. Charles showed mild symptoms.

His mother Queen Elizabeth celebrated her 94th birthday on April 21 a lot more soberly than usual. For example, on her birthday, there were no salute shots in various British parks. That was probably the first time in 68 years.
