Today Kochi Kochi Blue Spikers and Chennai Blitz fight
In the second season of RuPay Prime Volleyball, Kochi Kochi Blue Spikers and Chennai Blitz are going into the first battle today. Last year was a tough tournament for both the teams. While Kochi finished last, Chennai finished second in the last rung. Chennai won two out of six matches last season.
This year, the Kochi team is led by Eduardo Romei, an experienced player from Peru. Romay’s wealth of experience has benefited the team. Meanwhile, Romay is still trying to understand the new environment in Rupe Prime Volleyball League.
“As for me, as an individual foreign player, I’m discovering new things. I’ve tried to understand how everyone trains and reacts as a new player. No one reacts the same way as another. It’s a very short season. So we have to do things quickly. It’s part of the game. So it’s okay”- this was Roma’s response.
Meanwhile, Naveen believes that having already seen three matches in the season ahead of the first game will help the team in what areas to work on against Kochi. Naveen said, “We have prepared well. We have seen three matches for tomorrow. We have already seen which areas need attention. So, we have corrected those areas and trained with the same mindset.”
As far as Roma are concerned, he believes the morning training ahead of the first match against Chennai Blitz is key. Romay believes that this will help him understand more about the field and clearly know the playing area. “We are in the final touches for the match. I believe it is important for the team to be confident about what has been done and what is being done. Tomorrow’s morning session is important because for the first time we are going out on the field – said Romay.
When Calicut Heroes took on Mumbai Meteors on Sunday, Kerala fans turned out in droves to cheer on their home team. Naveen believes that Kochi’s game will be similar to that thunderous atmosphere. But the team will focus only on the game, he said.
