Children not until 2022?
Vaccinologist Isabel Leroux-Roels tells VRT NWS that she expects young people aged 12 to 17 to have their turn by the end of the year. This could take even longer for children under the age of 12, she expects that they will not be available until 2022.
However, whether the vaccinations are effective in children is not yet fully established. The developers of the already approved vaccines are still conducting studies among 12 to 16-year-olds. She also points out that a very limited number of young people have already been vaccinated. This concerns young people from the age of 16 who are doing an internship in a residential care center. They were already given the Pfizer vaccine.
