According to a spokesperson for the GGD, the appointments are canceled because it would not be responsible to unite two large visitor flows on one day. “And the festivals have a right to that area,” said the spokesperson. “When we moved into the NDSM shed to vaccinate, everything was still locked. These vaccination appointments were made at a time when everyone thought: there are no events there.”

The Pleinvrees Festival and De Zon appear to take place over the weekend at the NDSM wharf in the north of Amsterdam. Not everyone can appreciate the cancellation of vaccination appointments on social media. “Why do we literally do everything to stay in misery longer? Don’t we just poke to be able to go to festivals?”, said an angry tweeter. Some speak of ‘the world upside down’, but others are more than happy to embrace the old normal and think that ‘this is how it should be’. „Cancelled, because ‘location not available’. There are three other screening locations in Amsterdam: the RAI in South, the Calandhal in Nieuw-West and the AFAS Live concert hall in Southeast.
