Pride Marches 2021: in National Education as elsewhere, mobilization! – SUD education tract

SUD Education calls for participation in pride marches

LGBTIphobias are very present in schools and schools. While students are the first victims, this question also concerns staff who may be victims of these LGBTIphobic acts. National education is one place among others for the expression of discrimination and in particular LGBTI-phobias: insults, harassment, displayed contempt, forced “outings”. SUD Education is at the side of LGBTI staff of National Education, to fight against all forms of LGBTIphobic and heterosexist discrimination, and calls for participation in pride marches, against hatred, for LGBTI rights and the development of all. you!

The manifestations of LGBTIphobias are multiple: threats, physical and sexual assault, rape, degradation of property, dismissal, insults, rejection and ignorance, mockery, bullying, incitement to hatred, denigration and prejudice conveyed against LGBTI people, defamation, discrimination, harassment, outing.

On May 17, the Ministry of National Education was to publish the “vademecum” concerning the reception of trans students at school. This document is still not published. It is high time to relaunch and boost a real campaign to fight against discrimination to which LGBTI + people are victims for the next school year.

The Covid-19 crisis has worsened the situation, as evidenced by the latest report from SOS homophobia. LGBTI + young people, forced to confine themselves to hostile family environments, found themselves overexposed to violence, students were confronted with a lack of means in terms of health and support. Nurses and psyENs are far too few and numerous; As feminist, anti-patriarchal educational staff, we have a special responsibility to protect and support these children and support LGBTI colleagues. Let’s show our solidarity on the occasion of the pride marches!

SUD Education calls for action during the LGBTI + pride marches which will take place from May to the start of the 2021 school year.

To fight against LGBQTIphobias at school, from primary to university, SUD Education claims:

  • The re-integration of the concept of gender in official texts and its inclusion in programs developed by the educational community, in teaching and in projects.
  • The effectiveness of the sexuality education sessions provided for in the official texts and the taking into account in these sessions of a non-heterocentric perspective, which puts all sexual orientations and all gender identities on an equal footing.
  • The implementation of devices allowing students to reflect on discrimination and to deconstruct stereotypes.
  • Respect for the first name and pronoun for trans students and staff.
  • Initial and continuing training on gender issues for all other categories of staff.
  • The administration’s obligation to support, help and defend all members of the educational community who, because of their gender identity, would suffer various forms of bullying, harassment or discrimination, wherever they come from ( students, administration, colleagues, parents). The administration must support these members in their efforts, including in the context of a change of gender and / or identity, by ensuring them a secure environment so that they can complete their journey without being endangered. in their educational and professional environment.
