Sweden topped the group before the meeting with one point before second place Italy, which, however, has one match less played but looked to lose the lead right into the final minutes.
It was an even start to the match with chances in both directions. But in the 42nd minute of the match, Italy took the lead after a long attack. Nicolo Rovella got on a hard shot from just outside the penalty area and Lorenzo Lucca steered the ball into 1-0.
At the end of the match, Sweden made a forcing and created some chances. Among other things, Tim Prica got a dangerous nod on a nice post from Emil Holm which did not result in a draw.
Sweden did not give up
But Sweden and the company Holm / Prica did not give up. In the 92nd minute, Sweden got a new good position. Jesper Tolinsson sent a long ball towards Adam Carlén who won a header duel and got the ball to Emil Holm. Through a very skilful shot with the tip of the toe, Holm got the ball to Tim Prica who could nod the ball to 1-1, which was also the end result.
Thus, it tops undefeated Sweden continued qualifying group F on eleven points before Italy on 10 points.
Sweden has two matches left to play in the European Championship qualifiers. November 12 you meet Bosnia-Herzegovina at home and November 16 you meet Ireland away. The U21 European Championships will be played in Georgia and Romania in June and July 2023.
