Preview: Lazio aims to bounce back in Serie A against Fiorentina after Champions League setback

Maurizio Sarri insists Champions League defeat to Feyenoord is not in Lazio’s minds as they must continue their Serie A form against Fiorentina tonight.

It starts at the Stadio Olimpico at 19.45 GMT.

The Biancocelesti are deeply unpredictable, as while they have won their last two Serie A games, they are coming off a tough 3-1 midweek Champions League defeat to Feyenoord. So how can Lazio get back on track after what happened in Rotterdam?

“This is a competition that has nothing to do with Rotterdam. We come from two consecutive victories in Serie A, so we have confidence there,” Sarri told Sky Sport Italia.

“The defeat is not a shame against Feyenoord, which is a very strong team, but we regret and are disappointed for not having been able to express ourselves fully.

“We have to forget about that Champions League game and focus on Serie A, replicating the hungry performances we had in the last two or three rounds.”

This is a complicated match at the Stadio Olimpico, as Fiorentina knows that a victory would leave them far from Naples and Atalanta in fourth place

“Fiorentina is a very difficult opponent to play against, everyone knows it.”

Sarri starts Taty Castellanos up front tonight and has Ciro Immobile on the bench. How will the coach manage his captain’s return to form?

“I’m not a coach, I’m a coach. I play against someone who is a little bit in better shape and right now it is Castellanos, but clearly we are waiting for Immobile.”
