The recommended number of meals in Ramadan

Fayed stresses that all those who are underweight or who suffer from excessive thinness should consult a nutritionist or their doctor to see if they can fast, noting that they can avoid losing weight in the month of Ramadan by eating food rich in calories. , nutrients, calcium and good fats such as omega 3, with the need to eat three main meals and two snacks, as well as stay away from fast food, because these foods contain calories only, while what is required is the basic nutrients.

Nutritionist Lana Fayed believes that those who suffer from thinness should focus in their meals on eating:

  • Starchy vegetables, dried fruits, nuts, olive oil, peanut butter, yogurt, bread, dates, milk, avocados, fruit juice concentrates and full-fat cheese.
  • Their main dish should contain meat, chicken or fish.

She indicated that if a skinny person feels immediate satiety, he should divide the amount he is supposed to eat over a larger number of meals, without neglecting the importance of drinking plenty of water.

This entails eating a plate of salad, which contains olive oil, and then the main dish, which must contain a source of carbohydrates, protein, and healthy fats, such as fish meal with potatoes.

The importance of the pre-dawn meal

Al-Desouki adds that the second main meal can be three hours after breakfast, and serves as a mini-meal for the first meal, provided that it includes a cup of soup and sources of protein such as cheese and eggs in addition to avocado, while the third main meal, which is the suhoor meal, must contain Starches such as pasta, potatoes, vegetables, fruits and yogurt, stressing the role of this meal in maintaining blood sugar levels.

Al-Dasouki concludes her speech by pointing out that people who suffer from skinnyness must eat at least two “snack” meals between breakfast and suhoor, provided that they contain sources of carbohydrates such as oats, raw nuts, dried fruits, and fruit juices.
