At the sentencing hearing held on the 21st, the 3rd Criminal Division of the Uijeongbu District Court (Presiding Judge Lee Seong-gyun) sentenced Choi to one year in prison and put him under court custody for charges of forgery of private documents, forgery of private documents, and violation of the Real Estate Act.

Mr. Choi was accused of forging bank account balance certificates as if he had deposited 34.7 billion won in a savings bank four times between April and October 2013 in the process of purchasing land in Dochon-dong, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do.

The court judged that Mr. Choi committed this crime to show that he had sufficient ability to raise funds to purchase the land.

Choi was also accused of submitting a forged balance certificate of about 10 billion won to the court in August 2013 with his partner Ahn, filing a lawsuit for the return of the down payment on the land in Dochon-dong.
