Zelensky will address members of parliament via video link, “the first time this has happened in the House”, while official parliamentary activities will be suspended, according to a House of Commons press release issued on Monday.

House Speaker Lindsay Hoyle responded to the request and said: “Every Member of Parliament wants to hear directly from the President what he has to say, who will speak to us live from Ukraine, so this is an important opportunity for the House.” .

“Thanks again to our incredible staff for working so hard to make this historic address possible,” Hoyle said in a statement.

Parliamentarians will be able to watch the speech on the screens installed during the night on each side of the House.

More than 500 headphones will be available to lawmakers to allow them to hear a simultaneous English translation, according to a House of Commons statement. There will be no question and answer session at the end of the speech by the President of Ukraine, the statement said.
