President Biden goes for third dose of corona vaccine | Abroad

US President Joe Biden and his wife Jill will both be vaccinated with a third dose of a corona vaccine once the booster campaign for Pfizer and Moderna vaccines launches in the United States at the end of September. Biden made this known in an interview with the American news channel ABC.

The US president underlined that he and his wife received their first shot at the beginning of this year. It is therefore “more than time” for a booster vaccine, said 78-year-old Biden.

US authorities announced yesterday that all adults vaccinated with Pfizer and Moderna can request a third shot eight months after their second. This is possible from the week of September 20. There is concern in the US because after a while the immune system would protect less against the delta variant of the coronavirus.

The repeat campaign has yet to receive the green light from the American drug watchdog FDA. Administering extra corona shots in rich countries such as the US is sensitive, because vaccination in many developing countries is difficult to get off the ground due to a lack of vaccine doses.
