Premiere of Two Scenic Proposals: ‘A-Hora’ and ‘La Paranoia de las Ballenas’ at Maule Regional Theater

Title: Maule Regional Theater Presents Exciting Theater Premieres by Maulino Artists

Date: June 20, 2023

The Maule Regional Theater (TRM) is set to showcase two captivating theatrical productions as part of its commitment to the artistic development of the region. These works, titled “A-Hora” and “La Paranoia de las Ballenas,” have been selected from numerous proposals submitted in the 2022 call for the “Support for Creation” program.

Co-produced with the La Campanazo collective and Estudio Cenit, “A-Hora” explores contemporary themes that invite public reflection. The play is a result of the TRM’s Creation Support initiative, which aims to promote the development of artistic proposals in the region. In addition to financial contributions, the theater provides technical, artistic, production, and communication support to ensure the successful realization of the productions.

Victoria Flores Monreal, the executive secretary of the Maule Regional Theater, expressed her excitement about enriching the theater’s repertoire with local talent. She emphasized the institution’s active involvement in the development of these artistic proposals, stating that the Creation Support program has become a significant initiative and a vital meeting point for the regional scene.

Haydée García Buscaglione, a member of La Campanazo and interpreter, highlighted the TRM’s support in materializing their long-held vision. The Creation Support program provided the necessary resources for set design, materials, and rehearsal locations, enabling the realization of their idea. The program also helped resolve operational aspects such as ticketing, considering the diverse origins of the artists involved.

“La Paranoia de las Ballenas,” co-directed and written by Rodrigo Calderón, is another highly anticipated production. This work, which has been in development since 2017, received the Support for Creation award, providing the impetus to bring it to life. Mentored by Karla Zúñiga, who proposed the Maule Regional Theater, Calderón praised the script’s improvement and highlighted the innovative, entertaining, and dynamic nature of the play. He expects the production to generate thought-provoking discussions and raise questions among the audience.

The first premiere, “A-Hora,” is scheduled for Thursday, June 29, at 7:30 p.m., with a duration of 45 minutes. General admission tickets are priced at $4,000 and can be purchased through Vivoticket. Inspired by the story “Momo, or the story of the girl who returned time to people,” the play explores our relationship with time, fiction, and the possible. It presents a physical, dreamlike, and acid fable that encourages contemplation, celebrates listening, and challenges the notion of wasting time.

“The Paranoia of the Whales” will be showcased on Thursday, July 6, at 19:30, with a runtime of 90 minutes. General admission tickets are also priced at $4,000 and available through Vivoticket. This production delves into the world of creepypastas, short horror stories shared over the internet, blurring the boundaries between reality and fiction. The play explores the language of terror, new technologies, and social networks, inviting the audience to participate in a series of challenges and activities.

Please note that “The Paranoia of the Whales” contains scenes that may be violent for certain audiences.

The Maule Regional Theater’s commitment to supporting local artists and promoting artistic development in the region is evident through its Creation Support program. These upcoming premieres promise to captivate audiences and contribute to the vibrant cultural scene of Maule.
