The Wolverhampton Wanderers could have been the first team to defeat Liverpool in the current Premier League season. Thanks to a strong second half, it was 1-1 for a long time, the Wolves had good opportunities for a goal – and then the leaders struck again: In the 84th minute it was Roberto Firmino, the Liverpool 2-1 (1-0 ) Victory shot.

For the Reds, it was their 22nd win in the 23rd game of the season, only Manchester United had managed to wrestle Liverpool on matchday 9. In the table, the team of coach Jürgen Klopp is now at the top with 67 points, chaser Manchester City has already 16 points less and completed one game.
Liverpool has seen the strain of this season in the past few weeks, as was the case in Wolverhampton. After the narrow successes against Everton (1-0) in the FA Cup and Tottenham (1-0) and Manchester United (2-0) in the league, the Reds had a difficult time after Raul Jiménez’s equalizing goal (51st minute). Goalkeeper Alisson Becker had to clear several times against Wolverhamtpons attackers. It was Becker’s first goal after seven games in a row in the Premier League.

However, Liverpool are honored this season to still believe in the one opportunity that a game can turn again. This time it was a solo by Mohamed Salah that messed up the defense of the guests, captain Jordan Henderson kept the overview and fitted the free-standing Firmino. The former Hoffenheimer took a few more steps and then hit the far corner with a placed shot. Henderson led Liverpool early in the first half with a header after a corner (8th).
