Premier League: Liverpool beat Tottenham and take lead | Football

sport">Both teams started the game with the same goal: to take the lead in the Premier League. Both The Reds and Spurs had 25 points prior to the cracker and therefore knew that a lot was at stake tonight.

sport">After a somewhat tentative start on both sides, it was Liverpool that got stronger and stronger. Via Firmino, the team of coach Jürgen Klopp was close to the opening goal after ten minutes, but keeper Hugo Lloris kept Tottenham upright.

sport">Fifteen minutes later it was hit. Mohamed Salah shot Liverpool with a reversed shot to a deserved 1-0 lead. The goal seemed to give the Reds wings, as danger suddenly came from all sides. After half an hour of play, the ball was out of nowhere on the other side of the goal. The first attempt gave Tottenham the equalizer. Heung-Min Son settled face to face with Alisson Becker, so the teams went into half time in balance. The team of José Mourinho was especially happy with this.

sport">Tottenham came out of the dressing room much stronger and was very dangerous a number of times, especially via Harry Kane and Steven Bergwijn. The Dutchman in particular could have been the hero of the evening, but his shot hit the post. Both teams played the second half full for the win. For a long time it seemed that the points would be divided, but in the ninetieth minute Firmino made his second of the evening and shot Liverpool to the lead.

sport">Georginio Wijnaldum (Liverpool) played the entire match. Bergwijn (Tottenham Hotspur) was taken to the side fifteen minutes before the end.

Leicester city loses points against Everton

sport">Leicester City has missed the chance to be the leader of the Premier League for a while. The club lost 0-2 to Everton. Leicester is now shared third with Southampton, which did not go further than 1-1 at the low-ranked Arsenal.

sport">Richarlison gave Everton the lead in the opening phase. Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel seemed to misjudge the Brazilian’s shot. Barely a minute later it was almost right. Jamie Vardy was able to head in freely, but the attacker headed straight into the hands of keeper Robin Olsen, who had been preferred over international Jordan Pickford. “Sometimes we rotate”, explained trainer Carlo Ancelotti.

sport">Mason Holgate increased the lead for the Liverpool club about fifteen minutes before the end. The defender scored from the rebound after a corner kick, after Schmeichel had first saved two more times. Leicester then received a penalty kick, a decision that the VAR reversed, however. Then another hit by Ayoze Pérez was disallowed for offside.

Arsenal at home not past Southampton

sport">Theo Walcott put Southampton ahead of his former club Arsenal after 18 minutes. Shortly after the break, the London formation tied the score thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Brazilian defender Gabriel of Arsenal was able to leave after an hour with two yellow cards.

Leeds United wins convincingly against Newcastle

sport">Leeds United won with three goals in a convincing final phase against Newcastle United, 5-2. Leicester and Southampton are both one point behind Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool.
