Premier League clubs may need to consider repaying supporters

FC Groningen and the other Eredivisie clubs will discuss whether the season tickets will be reimbursed if games are played behind closed doors or if they are removed entirely from the agenda. General director Wouter Gudde informed RTV Noord about this.

The cabinet announced on Tuesday that there will be no football anyway until 1 June. Groningen will come through this period. “It is now focused on liquidity. When we talk about the coming season, I am concerned,” says Gudde.

Groningen will make it in the coming months, but that could change if people reclaim money from the season tickets. “We must first have a definite answer. If there will be games without an audience soon, or if the competition will not continue at all, then I understand that we have to do something,” says Gudde.

“We will collectively tackle that with all Eredivisie clubs. But behind each scenario there is an amount that can leave a deep wound.”
