KOMPAS.com – Indonesian mixed doubles, Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti, managed to win against Japanese representatives, Kyohei Yamashita/Naru Shinoya, in the last 32 of the 2023 Badminton Asia Championships.
The Praveen Jordan/Melati Daeva Oktavianti vs Kyohei Yamashita/Naru Shinoya match took place at Field 3 of the Sheikh Rashid bin Hamdan Indoor Hall, Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on Tuesday (25/4/2023) evening WIB.
Praveen/Melati looked promising in the first game. They were never left behind until they won 21-17 over Yamashita/Shinoya.
After entering the second game, Praveen/Melati started to have a hard time dealing with the Japanese pair’s resistance.

The mixed doubles, currently playing under the guidance of PB Djarum, was behind by two points before taking the lead at 7-6.
Praveen/Melati did not waste the hard-earned momentum.
They were able to maintain their advantage until closing the second game with a score of 21-16.
Thus, Praveen/Melati won in straight games or two straight games over Yamashita/Shinoya.
Praveen/Melati ensured victory in 35 minutes.
Thanks to this victory, Praveen/Melati have the right to continue their fight for the last 16 of the 2023 Badminton Asia Championships.
Next, they will face representatives of Malaysia, Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei, who qualified for the last 16 after defeating Kim Won-ho/Jeong Na-eun (South Korea).
Chen Tang Jie/Toh Ee Wei appeared convincing against Kim Won-ho/Jeong Na-eun.
They won two straight games with a score of 21-14 and 21-13 in 34 minutes.
