The commissioner for the defense of Human Rights and Attention to Victims, Humberto Prado, appointed by the opposition leader Juan Guaidó, denounced this Friday, June 26, that of the 23 recommendations made in the report of the United Nations Office (UN ) for Human Rights (Ddhh) have not been complied with by the Venezuelan Executive.

“There is no international and national instrument where it appears that detainees cannot have contact with their relatives, with their loved ones, with their children or with their wives, there is no instrument, however here we see some sustained practices that through of the authority they have and of performance go against the provisions of the law and the Ddhh, “he said.

This was indicated through a press conference on the Zoom platform, in order to commemorate this Friday 26-J the International Day in Support of Victims of Torture.

He reported that on July 4, his office will issue a detailed and exhaustive special report on the degree of compliance with the 23 recommendations made by the high commissioner of the United Nations Office for Human Rights on Venezuela.

Prado stressed that they are on the side of the victims, for this reason, he warned that there are forced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, that is why, he assured that they will continue to express things as they are and with the utmost respect for the victims, before the inter-American system and universal system of the Ddhh.

One of the recommendations of the High Commissioner Bachelet was to carry out prompt, exhaustive, independent, impartial and transparent investigations of the violations of the Ddhh, including the death of indigenous people, and bring those responsible to justice, for which reason Prado stated that none of those responsible for the cases where there have been arbitrary arrests against a group of citizens during the quarantine, have been prosecuted, on the contrary, “there is a persecution agenda.”

Another suggestion is to release all the people who are deprived of their liberty in the different prisons of the country. “We have the cases of the deputies Renzo Prieto, Juan Requesens, Gilbert Caro, Tony Geara, as well as that of Roberto Marrero, who was the chief of staff of the AN presidency. All continue to be deprived of their liberty” and warned that recently joined the lawyer Eva Leal, who was released this past Thursday.
