Some surgeries have hit an imaginary bottom. Most of their patients have already been vaccinated against covid, and they still have dozens of doses left in the refrigerator. Therefore, they also offer vaccinations to those who do not keep a file. Otherwise, the vaccines will have to be discarded.

Practitioners had to order a large, 100-dose pack of Vaxzevria from AstraZeneka or Spikevax from Moderna, or half the dose of Janssen from Johnson & Johnson. Comirnats from Pfizer / BioNTech are not available.

Doctors cannot share vaccines with each other, nor can they divide the pack. However, they can invite patients from other colleagues or those whose doctor does not vaccinate against covid. With this intention, an online table with an overview of the doctors involved was created a few days ago in cooperation with enthusiasts from the Czech Technical University.

“The surgeries they want share information with the public that they have a number of vaccines available,” Ludmila Bezdíčková, a Prague doctor who initiated the project, explained to Práva.

Deadlines expire
“People who want to be vaccinated and do not have a practitioner who vaccinates them can apply to us, even though they are from elsewhere,” she added. Most doctors describe the reason why they open their surgery to people from the outside, that they simply no longer have anyone to vaccinate from their patients. Some of them went to the centers due to the long wait for the vaccine to be delivered, some refused the offered type of preparation, the rest had already received the vaccine.

“Because Moderna expires very soon and will otherwise have to be devalued, we also got involved in this way,” wrote the general practitioner Jakub Mitro, who prescribes in Pilsen. He added that he received patients from colleagues from the beginning of vaccination, when the delivery date could not be relied on.
