Minister of Defense (Minister of Defense) Prabowo Subianto request that the Indonesian people must be brave to be honest and admit that what the leaders are doing China in the last 45 years is something to be learned.
This was conveyed by Prabowo in the National Speech of the General Chairperson of Political Parties in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS).
“We have to be honest and admit that what China’s leaders have done in these 45 years is something we have to learn,” Prabowo said, Monday (16/8).
According to Prabowo, as one of the countries located in the Indo-Pacific region, where 50 percent of the world’s population and productivity resides and originates in this region, like it or not, Indonesia must look to China.
“Inevitably, we see that China has carried out developments that have almost never occurred in human history,” Prabowo said.
Prabowo then explained that the bamboo curtain country had succeeded in alleviating poverty in 40 years or a generation.
At first, Prabowo said, the Chinese people living below the poverty line reached 99 percent. Meanwhile, only 1 percent of the population is above that line.
“This one generation they reversed the pyramid, 1 percent are below poverty, 99 percent are out of it,” said the General Chair of Gerindra.
Prabowo then asked the experts inside the CSIS to study ways China can reverse the situation in the country.
He stressed that Indonesia does not have to follow China’s ideology. Because, according to him, China’s ideology may not be compatible with Indonesia.
“They are consistent, they really work to eliminate poverty, they work hard to seize science and technology, educate their people properly and hard,” he said.
