Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto thanked Australian Defense Minister Peter Dutton and Indian Defense Minister Rajnath Singh for helping with the search KRI Nanggala-402 submarine.

The submarine belonging to the Indonesian Navy (AL) lost contact while doing exercises in Bali waters since Wednesday (21/4) in the morning.

“On behalf of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia, I would like to express my deepest gratitude for the assistance provided by the Australian Government in the tragedy of losing contact with KRI Nanggala 402 through Defense Minister His Excellency @ PetterDutton_MP,” Prabowo said via his twitter account @prabowo, Friday ( 23/4).

A similar speech was also delivered by Prabowo to Rajnath Singh who had helped locate KRI Nanggala in Balinese waters.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude for the assistance provided by the Minister of Defense of India HE
@rajnathsingh in the search process for KRI Nanggala 402. Hopefully we will get the results we expect, “said Prabowo.

Previously, the Head of the Indonesian National Armed Forces Information Center, Major General Achmad Riad, said that the search for the KRI Nanggala 402 submarine is now deployed in nine points in Bali’s waters.

“According to the data we received until this afternoon there are nine points,” said Riad when holding a press conference in Bali, Friday (23/4).

The nine search points included the location of the oil spill and a strong magnetic pull which was previously detected by one of the KRI and the helicopter monitoring the location.

This search point is spread over a distance of 23 miles from North Bali or about 43 kilometers from Celukan Bawang.

All efforts have been made to find the ship manned by 53 TNI personnel. A number of countries have also sent assistance to search for ships that have been operated by the Indonesian Navy since 1981.

Countries helping include Singapore, India, Australia, the United States and Malaysia. The search team continued to race against time because the oxygen reserves in the submarine were only until Saturday (24/4) in the morning.
