Power supply problems cause major delays at Paris-Montparnasse and Gare du Nord stations, but traffic back to normal on June 10

Traffic is back to normal in these two Paris stations this Saturday, June 10. The day before, power supply problems had caused major delays on TGVs departing from and arriving at these stations.

All departures and arrivals of trains at Paris-Montparnasse and at the Gare du Nord are normal, indicates the SNCF, this June 10. “Only a few delays were to be reported this morning, on the Atlantic axis“, adds the railway company contacted by France 3 Paris-Île-de-France.

A broken power line and an electrical problem at a train station had caused a great mess for passengers at these stations the day before.

On the Atlantic axis, served from Montparnasse, a TGV had been immobilized about fifty kilometers from Paris. The catenary had broken in Saint-Arnoult (Yvelines). SNCF technical teams intervened during the night of Friday 9 to Saturday 10, to restore the power supply of the high-speed track. Delays ranging from 2 to 5 hours had been reported on trains departing and arriving from this axis. This was the case for TGVs serving, for example, La Rochelle, Bordeaux, Toulouse, Rennes or Brest.

On the side of the Gare du Nord, this time it is a “power supply fault“which notably led to the evacuation of a TGV in the middle of the track. The station which serves Lille, Brussels or even London suffered from an electrical problem. A failure which led to “between 25 minutes and 2 hours of delay” on these lines, and who has “heavily disrupted traffic until late evening“.
