Possible significant accumulation of rain and snow this weekend in parts of the tri-state area – Telemundo New York (47)

NEW YORK – Heavy rains and gusty winds are expected to return to the tri-state area this weekend as a powerful coastal storm rolls into the region, according to The Weather Authority (LAEET).

The rain is expected to begin Friday afternoon as the clouds roll in ahead of the storm, whose path remains uncertain. At this point, there is a possibility of a wintry mix and snow accumulation northwest of New York City, but it’s too early to know how much snow could accumulate in certain places by the end of the weekend.

Up to 2 inches of rain is expected, with torrential rains and gusty winds besetting the city and surrounding areas on Saturday. Floods are a concern for vulnerable areas.

The weather will start to dry out on Sunday, but it will still be windy. Temperatures stay cool in the low to medium 40s for much of the next week.
