POS: An extension is coming for interface with cash registers – 2024-03-02 09:50:24

The deadline for the interconnection of cash registers with POS is being extended, which expires tomorrow, Thursday 29/2. The final decisions will be made on Thursday by the Ministry of National Economy after weighing all the data regarding the number of businesses that have not initiated the relevant procedures, the delays recorded in the upgrade of the POS by the providers and their connection and networking problems from suppliers of cash registers.

Based on these data, it will be decided whether the extension will be for a few days or a longer period of time, whether it will concern all professionals or only cases where the interconnection is not possible, and whether the time of imposing the sanctions and stiff fines will also be postponed for those not comply in time. There will also be tolerance for monetary fines, the imposition of which will start from Friday, March 1, reports ot.gr.

It is noted that for new POS installations, the margin of not imposing a fine of 1,500 euros has been postponed from March 1 to April 1, provided that the POS is ordered by February 29, while if they have applied for the supply but the installation is pending, then the margin compliance can reach until March 31.

According to today’s data, by Thursday, 400,000 businesses should have completed the interconnection of cash registers with POS, something that seems improbable with the current image of the market. Although rates have increased noticeably in recent days, reaching 4,000 to 5,000 connections daily according to the president of the Athens Chamber of Commerce, Yiannis Hatzitheodosiou, only 15% of those liable have completed the interconnection, i.e. approximately 60,000 companies.

The fines

Regarding the bells that will be imposed from March 1, they are as follows:

1. In businesses and stores that do not proceed to interface cash registers with POS

• A fine of 10,000 euros for those who keep aplographic books
• A fine of 20,000 euros for those who keep duplicate books

2. To POS providers

• A fine of 200,000 euros. However, if the same violation is committed within five years, the fine will reach 300,000

3. To importers and manufacturers of cash registers

• Revocation of the license for the cash register model and a fine of 10,000 euros.

4. To Electronic Invoicing Providers that interface with Business/Accounting Management Programs (Enterprise Resource Planning, “ERP”)

• Documents issued by the ERP program will not be considered legal and a fine of 10,000 euros will be imposed

5. In the 35 new branches, not installing a POS carries a fine of 1,500 euros, but from April 1st.

The requests

At the same time, the requests for extension are increasing as after GSEVEE and ESEE the Central Union of Chambers of Greece was added to the chain of organizations requesting time credit.

The government, which is currently making a titanic effort through the Ministry of Finance and the AADE to resolve technical problems and speed up connections, seems to have shifted from its adamant stance of strict adherence to the schedule a few days ago, now opening a window for a short extension , depending on how the venture develops until Thursday.
