Portugal with 457 new cases of covid-19, maximum since 8 May. There are 3 more deaths – coronavirus

The number of fatalities in Portugal due to the new coronavirus has increased to 1,564, three more deaths compared to yesterday, when 1,561 were counted, announced the General Directorate of Health (DGS) this Sunday, June 28. The number of infected (confirmed cases ) increased 1.11% to 41,646, which represents 457 new cases in 24 hours, highest absolute value since May 8. Yesterday an increase of 0.79% to 41,189 had been announced.

The growth rate of the number of infected people increased (1.11% against 0.79% yesterday) and in absolute terms the number of new cases also increased (457 against 323 yesterday).


Lisbon and Tagus Valley with 86% of new cases

In the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley (LVT) there were 391 new cases (against 255 yesterday), which represents 86% of the total new cases in the country. This is the largest number of new infections in the region since the pandemic began.

Taking into account the number of infected and fatal victims, the lethality rate is 3.76%, a decrease from 3.79% yesterday and the lowest value since April 25 and which compares with the peak of 4.37% registered at the beginning of this month.

With regard to recovered patients, there are now 27,066 cases, more 202 than reported yesterday (26.864).

Maximum number of patients admitted since June 1

The data indicate that of the more than 41 thousand confirmed cases, 458 are admitted to hospitals, which corresponds to an increase of 16 (4%) compared to yesterday (442). Inpatients represent 1.1% of the total reported cases.

With regard to patients admitted to the Intensive Care Units (ICU), five more patients (7%) were registered, for a total of 75, the highest number since 13 June.

The number of active cases rose for the seventh consecutive day to 13,016, the highest number since May 23 and representing about 31.2% of the total cases.

According to the DGS daily bulletin, there are 816 deaths in the North (more than half of the total), 465 in the region of Lisbon and the Tagus Valley, 248 in the Center and 15 in the Algarve. The Azores have 15 deaths, Alentejo has 5 deaths and Madeira remains without mortal victims to mourn.
