PORTLAND, Ore. – Portland cruised to a 7-0 sweep of Eastern Washington in men’s tennis action Saturday at Louisiana-Pacific Tennis Center.

Portland set the tone in doubles where the no. 1 tandem of Luka Vukovic and Nikolas Tvedt won 6-1 3 team of Nicolas Ocana and Nikola Keremedchiev clinched a 6-4 decision.

The Pilots then raced to straight set wins at all six singles positions.

Vukovic doubled the score with a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 3 over Drew Dillon. Brown followed with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Caden Kammerer at No. 1 singles and Ocana provided the match-clincher with a 6-2, 6-3 defeat of Tyler Waddock at No. 2.

Keremedchiev defeated Tyler Dalos 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 and then Fabian Gusic and Tannor Binder capped the scoring with their first dual match wins of the season at No. 5 and No. 6, respectively.

“Not getting the win yesterday hurt, but we bounced back and took care of business today,” Portland head coach Aaron Gross said. “It was awesome to get Fabian and Tannor in the lineup today so they can show their improvement. Tannor got his first dual match ever, which was exciting. They both are going to be a big part of our program for the coming years, so any experience we can get them is crucial. I think the other highlight continues to be Luka and Tvedt at No. 1 doubles. Our other doubles teams have struggled, but they have been rock-solid. We got to get the other teams stepping up and it can make our lives a little bit easier in tough matches like the one coming up tomorrow.”

The Pilots will conclude a busy weekend on Sunday with a 10 a.m. match against the Montana State Bobcats at Louisiana Pacific Tennis Center.
