The courier service Discord, born as a way to facilitate video game players to communicate with each other, has presented a new image with which it seeks to become a “place to speak” for a wider audience.
Although the origin of Discord is in the video game communities, over time “many users have realized that what they wanted was simply a place designed to spend time and talk to your communities and friends“, as the platform has explained in a statement.
Discord works with a system where users create their own servers to chat with their community of friends, and now the platform has claimed in its new image as the “place to talk” of its users, instead of just being ‘gamers’.
The platform abandons an initial process that recognizes that it “could intimidate” users due to its complexity and bets on a new feature “designed to make it easier to invite communities and friends”.
Discord’s new website add a video server to make it easier as well as new templates to make it easier to create the servers.
Also, the platform fixed “hundreds of errors” and it has also increased voice and video capacity by 200 percent to improve performance reliability. The internal jokes of the service have also been modified so that they are not understood only by ‘gamers’
The new Discord image consists of a new logo with a console command in which the platform records its ‘gaming’ origins.
Since its launch in 2015, Discord has grown to exceed 100 million active users per month. Your community spends 4.000 million minutes a day spread over 6.7 million active servers.
Each week Discord records a total of 26,000 million minutes of conversation distributed among 13.5 million active servers worldwide, according to data from the platform.
