Popular singer Laima Vaikule gave an interview in Russian Youtube format program “Laima, Grems, Rendevū” (Lyme, Graham, Rendezvous), where he answered both the audience’s questions and reminisced about his life. She revealed that she does not live well with the great popularity, and mostly she does not like being recognized by everyone outside the stage and concerts.
A viewer had asked the singer if she is not afraid of getting old and what are the feelings when another number comes with each year?
“This is disgusting! Being old is disgusting! Don’t even hesitate! I never thought that I would be the oldest in the group… My enlisted was Mazulíte, because I started singing at the age of twenty. And then suddenly – I’m the oldest in the team! It is very unpleasant. I think that at your age it is important that you are not humiliated, that you are passionate about something and that you have good finances. Because when you’re young, all this is unimportant,” says the 68-year-old singer.
Laima Vaikule also revealed that she hardly ever celebrates her birthdays because it makes her feel uncomfortable. “So many people, everyone brings gifts, flowers, you’re the center of attention… It’s overwhelming for me. I haven’t celebrated birthdays in about 20 years. I didn’t celebrate and I don’t celebrate. I don’t like it,” Vaikule admits.
