Ponorogo Regency Government Collaborates with Banks to Relieve Credit Installments for Farmers Affected by PMK

SURYA.CO.ID|PONOROGO – The Ponorogo Regency Government is moving quickly to tackle the virus Mouth and Nail Disease (FMD) which attacked approximately 402 cows on Bumi Reog.

Most recently, the Regent of Ponorogo, Sugiri Sancoko, has coordinated with a number of banks to ease the burden on farmers in paying capital installments.

“For now, the installments are still running smoothly, but I know that the average capital of the cattle breeders comes from loans, so before it is really affected, we will coordinate with the related banks,” said Sugiri Sancoko, Friday (3/6/2022)

From the meeting, the relevant banks agreed on a credit restructuring to provide relief for farmers in paying installments.

Furthermore, the Ponorogo Regency Government will also focus on curative and preventive matters, especially to the maximum extent possible so that FMD transmission can be suppressed.

“This Pudak sub-district has an extraordinary density of dairy cows, we plan to have posts or task forces to deal with it,” continued Kang Giri.

Similarly, the Head of the Ponorogo Regency Agriculture, Food Security and Livestock Service, Masun, said that three banks that are partners for dairy farmers in Pudak, namely BRI, BNI, and East Java bank, have agreed to carry out credit restructuring.

The banking side realizes that this PMK has a huge impact on dairy farmers because the milk produced cannot be deposited into factories that have been partners with farmers.

Later, the bank together with the Department of Agriculture, Food Security and Livestock will verify and validate in the field, visiting the farmers one by one.

“The restructuring will take the form of a bank review, whether it is delaying principal payments or extending the tenor, delaying interest payments and others,” Masun explained.

Furthermore, the Ponorogo Regency Government is also aggressively taking rehabilitative curative steps to treat cows infected with FMD.

The purpose of the treatment is to reduce the symptoms of illness in cattle and increase the cow’s immune system.

“It has been carried out, health friends have gone to the field to cover 400 sick cows. So far, no one has died (due to FMD). In fact, the cows that were initially infected (FMD) are getting better,” Masun explained.

Another step is a preventive measure to prevent the spread of FMD from spreading.

“We are isolating sick cattle by involving many sectors, starting from the TNI, Polri to block the traffic of livestock,” he concluded.
