Alsace is, this week, in alder pollen spike and on the end with regard to hazelnut pollens, explains, to News Strasbourg, the air quality monitoring and forecasting service, Atmo Grand Est.
Alder pollens very present in Alsace
” The alder pollination started two weeks ago and we are currently in the pic in Alsace ”, explains Cyril Pallarès, head of the Surveillance unit at Atmo Grand Est.
Monday February 22, the Strasbourg sensor, managed by the Strasbourg University Hospitals (HUS), recorded more than 3,000 alder pollen grains per cubic meter, over the past week.
According to an index established by the National aerobiological surveillance network (RNSA), the allergic risk from exposure to alder pollen is currently located, for Strasbourg at least, at level 4 of 5 (3/5 for the hazel tree).
Better in the next few days
A improvement is expected by this weekend, thanks to the rain which, according to the Météo France website, could fall on Friday, in Strasbourg in particular.
“The rain will come and knock down, in other words ‘pinch down’, the pollen and therefore there will be less pollen in the air“, Summarizes Cyril Pallarès.
Next major episode at the end of March-beginning of April
In terms of pollens, the next important episode is expected for end of March-beginning of April, ” with the birch pollens, very allergenic“, Warns the specialist.
The grass pollens are expected for May-June.
