A large amount of pollen will be scattered this weekend and from around the 10th (Wednesday). Cherry blossoms are in full bloom from Kyushu to Kanto, but don’t forget to take precautions against pollen when viewing them.
On days when conditions are favorable for pollen to fly
Today, the 6th (Sat) and 7th (Sun), it will be sunny in many places, and a large amount of pollen will fly. It will rain in some places in the Kanto region, but it will not be heavy, and the amount of pollen that will fly is expected to be high. In Kyushu, it is likely to rain from around noon on both Saturday and Sunday, mainly in the southern part of the country, which will reduce the amount of pollen dispersed.
From the 8th (Monday) to the 9th (Tuesday), it will rain from Kyushu to Tohoku due to the effects of low pressure and fronts, and the amount of pollen scattered in Osaka is expected to be “low.” However, please be careful of pollen scattering before and after rain. On the 10th (Wednesday), the weather will be sunny and the temperature will rise, creating favorable conditions for pollen to fly.
Cherry blossoms are in full bloom in western and eastern Japan. How long does cedar/cypress pollen last?
In some places, such as the Tokai and Kanto regions, the scattering of cypress pollen will continue to peak until mid-April. However, soon after the peak, the full-scale dispersal of pollen is expected to end from Kyushu to Tohoku.
Full-scale pollen dispersal, in which pollen counts of 10 or more particles per square centimeter are observed, will not begin until early April in Kyushu, and mid-April in many areas from Chugoku and Shikoku to Tohoku. Parts of the Tokai region are expected to last until late April. However, even after full-scale dispersal has finished, there will still be days when pollen will be slightly scattered in various places until around early May.
