Poll: More than half of Latvians would not be able to recognize people with suicidal tendencies – in Latvia – News

In order to promote public awareness of the importance of mental health, LDz, together with the Crisis and Counseling Center “Skalbes” and other mental health experts, is organizing an expert discussion “Suicide risk – how to prevent it?” On Wednesday, October 7, at 11 am. Everyone will be able to watch the discussion live.

At the beginning of the discussion, the latest survey data on the recognition of the risk of suicide and the public’s understanding of the occurrence of such a risk will be presented.

In the discussion, experts will talk about what to do to reduce the risk of suicide in society, how to better recognize suicidal tendencies in those around you, how to help young people who experience signs of depression.

Zane Avotiņa, director of the Crisis and Counseling Center “Skalbes”, cognitive-behavioral psychotherapist Marija Ābeltiņa, head of the Adolescent and Youth Psychotherapy Center Nils Sakss Konstantinovs, researcher Andris Saulītis, researcher at Anželika Jaunzeme, project manager of the health support association “OGLE”, and Raimonds Maksims, manager of the diesel locomotive of SIA “LDz Cargo”.
