The vote on the extra budget took place in a largely abandoned Federal Day building. Only the necessary parliamentarians were present, so that everyone could keep enough distance from each other. Chancellor Merkel was not there either, because she still stays in home quarantine.
Applause
Before the debate and the vote, the members of the Federal Republic took plenty of time to applaud, to support all aid workers in Germany. Finance Minister Scholz called for political solidarity over the measures: “We are experiencing an unprecedented crisis in the history of our Federal Republic.”
