The favorites were deceived by the sunset. There was nothing to be done
Those who carefully watched the prologue could notice that our jumpers’ jumps were not at all dazzling. And nature gave, among others white and red have a good chance of even better jumps and more points for the Raw Air classification. However, the jumpers had a deduction of 13.4 points at the start and it became clear that the leaders would have big problems to fly away. The deducted points for the higher inrun and the single points added for the lighter wind, however, were not able to compensate for the loss of meters. And this immediately translated into lower marks than the judges (which in this case showed the absurdity of the fact that the jumpers take into account the distance when assessing the jumper’s style. in these conditions, exceed 130 meters, but now Ryoyu Kobayashi was 12th and Karl Geiger was 14th.
Stoch fights in Raw Air, but could have escaped from the favorites
Probably the most that could have been done in case Kamil Stochwho, right after his jump, always reveals the most emotions when driving away. There was no gesture to symbolize joy here. Rather, there was uncertainty about how much this jump had given him. The repetitions also showed that the jumper in the first phase of the flight had to fight a slight instability in the air, so as we know Stoch, it had to mean some mistakes in the inrun position, which then translated into not the best exit from the threshold. Of course, the jump was still enough for a good result, although it was obvious that there was more to be won.
– The trial jump was fine and that’s enough. We are in such a rhythm that there is no need to jump but freshness. I knew what I was supposed to do and it was okay. I like the older hill profiles very much, although this hill is quite flat – he said Kamil Stoch on the air of Eurosport. He added similarly Dawid Kubackiwho admitted that the jump was late. And it was clearly visible in the repetition. – The jump was a bit late, but technically it was fine. I think it was similar to what I showed on Sunday in Lahti.
