Polish Enter Air buys the infamous Boeing 737-8 Max. Four additional planes planned

– Despite the crisis situation, you have to think about the future. Therefore, we agreed with Boeing to order additional four 737-8 aircraft. Two of them are ‘Confirmed Orders’ and two are Options. We believe that the machines of the American manufacturer, after all the modifications and checks they have undergone, will be the best aircraft in the world for many years to come. In the contract, we also secured the option of replacing this order with a different variant of the aircraft, if one would be useful for our business model – said Grzegorz Polaniecki, member of the board and general director of Enter Air, quoted in the release.

Enter Air currently has two Boeingi 737-8 MAX delivered at the turn of 2018 and 2019. The next two machines were to appear at the turn of 2020 and 2021, but according to the signed agreement, their delivery was postponed by more than 2.5 years. Deliveries of additional aircraft will begin in six years. The purchase of machines will be financed mainly from the loan and own funds.

The total number of aircraft ordered will be eight

The company is not planning to issue any shares. After signing the contract with Boeing, the total number of ordered aircraft will be eight, including two as an option. After completing the entire order, Enter Air is to fly 10 new Boeings.

– In the package agreed with Boeing, we also postpone the deliveries of previously ordered planes by more than 2.5 years. The situation on the market is difficult and at the moment there is no point in picking up new planes, the more so as the financing offers are not very attractive today. The third element of the package agreed with Boeing is the settlement of losses incurred as a result of the grounding of the ‘Max’. The terms of the settlement are strictly confidential, but I can say that we are pleased with the way Boeing has treated us as its customers. Everything was reasonably calculated and agreed as it should be between two serious partners – added Polaniecki.

Boeing stopped production of the 737 Max in January 2020.

As a reminder, Boeing decided in January to suspend the production of jets with which it had had huge problems for months. The crisis that the company is going through began with the two 737 Max disasters, in which 346 people were killed. We wrote about it in Next.gazeta.pl.
