– Government leaflets say that pensions up to PLN 2,500 will be tax-free. However, the leaflet is only a creative interpretation of the rules. In practice, retirees will not pay the tax, but will have to pay the health insurance premium – so the gross amount will not be the net amount. However, people receiving the benefit below PLN 484 are in a special situation. This group of beneficiaries will not feel any changes in the Polish Lada from January – the regulations do not provide for a change in the amount of these people’s benefits. ZUS provided the amount of the benefit for January 2022:

  • from approximately PLN 484 to PLN 2,500 – will be paid in a higher amount than that paid in 2021 with an advance payment to the tax office PLN 0,
  • approximately over PLN 2,500 to PLN 4,920 – will be paid in an amount higher than for December 2021 with an advance payment to the tax office so lower in 2022 compared to 2021 that it will cover the increase in the deducted health contribution from the benefit ( 9%),
  • approximately above PLN 4,920 – will be paid in an amount lower than that paid in 2021 with an advance payment to the tax office lower in 2022 than in 2021, which, however, will not compensate for the increase in the deducted health insurance contribution from the benefit (9% ).
