Police empty Malieveld, road closed towards town Inland

People are called on to leave the Hague on the orders of acting mayor Johan Remkes with a mobile phone and not to demonstrate. Otherwise they risk being arrested. Remkes issued an emergency order for this on Sunday afternoon.

People who are suspected of wanting to demonstrate are asked for identification and their destination. Agents also point out the ban on demonstration to them.

The demonstration, which was also prohibited at the time, started last week on a square with a skating rink next to the Malieveld. This square is now bordered by high gates. The manifestation then got out of hand and the ME had to intervene. About 400 people were arrested.
