SAINT PETERSBURG, Russia, June 11, 2021 / PRNewswire / – On June 11, UEFA EURO 2020 Football Village began creating a one-of-a-kind art installation that will be digitized and transformed into a non-expendable token (TNF) trophy. Gazprom, the official sponsor of the 2020 UEFA European Championship, took the initiative to create this novel award for the best goal of the championship and invited the famous futuristic Russian calligrapher Pokras Lampas to take over the project.
According to the artist’s idea, the installation will have been completed by June 12. The artistic piece consists of 432 soccer balls with a calligraphic ornament where the name of the championship, the name of the Gazprom company, the name of the international social program for children “Football for friendship” carried out by Gazprom and the values of the same: friendship, equality, justice, health, peace, loyalty, victory, tradition and honor. The only exception is the scorer’s ball: the calligraphy will touch it only as soon as its name is known. The 432 balls will form an open art space in which anyone can create extraordinary content for their audience.
In the future, the art installation will physically cease to exist and will become a digital artwork made of non-fungible tokens (TNF). This digital award and the winner’s ball will be awarded to the player who has scored the best UEFA goal EURO 2020. The award ceremony will be attended by young ambassadors of the “Football for Friendship” program from all the Eurocup countries. The award hologram will be delivered to UEFA headquarters in Nyon (Suiza) for display.
The “Goal of the tournament” award will be the first digital trophy in the history of football. By combining physical perception and digital reality into a true work of art, the spirit of the 2020 UEFA European Championship is creatively conveyed – a global event that brings people from all over the world together around sport.
