For many Pokémon players, the second generation marked a before and after despite the great affection that they may have for the original games. However, the second generation had part of the community criticizing some aspects such as the designs. In fact, to talk about these they pointed out that they they tried too childish designs.

While some of the most beloved Pokémon are in this generation, not everyone was happy with their designs. In fact, such were the criticisms that reached the ears of the creators. Although this could be taken as simply a curiosity, the reality is that the criticisms came to mean a change for the future.

Giving life to Pokémon with designs closer to monsters

It was the art director, Ken Sugimori, who claimed that generation 3In general, it came about as a direct response to complaints from fans. For this reason, when they began to design the third generation, one of the themes in which they focused to create the creatures of Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire was, precisely, in creating Pokémon that were more similar to monsters and had that genius.

One of the examples of this transformation was, precisely, Groudon. And if we generally look at the legendaries of these generations, we certainly see that change implemented.
