Some 1,300 players gathered today at the exhibition center in frankfurt to participate in the Pokémon International Championship Europe 2022.
The participants will compete throughout the weekend in numerous games around the characters invented in Japan.
Frankfurt became a “meeting point for the whole scene” of Pokémon, highlighted a spokesman for the contest, in which games were played both with collectible cards and on video game consoles and mobile phones.
Pokémon revolves around the collection and training of the creatures in this Japanese anime. The name comes from «Pocketmonsters» o “pocket Monsters”. Pokémon became famous thanks to the games of the video game company Nintendo.
There were no age restrictions for the competitions in Frankfurt. According to the spokesman for the event, the range of participants ranged from six years to over 60 and even 70 years.
The prizes for the winners amount to several thousand dollars, depending on the game and the number of participants. In total, the organizers expected the attendance of some 2,000 people at the tournament, which ends tomorrow, Sunday. dop
