Poet Hans Verhagen (81) passed away | NOW

Hans Verhagen died on Friday at the age of 81 in his hometown Amsterdam. That reports it NRC.

Verhagen, born in Vlissingen, made his debut at the age of 24 as closer to the publisher Nijgh & Van Ditmar with the publication Roses and Motors.

In the early 1960s, he was a member of the editorial staff of avant-garde magazines Gard Sivik and The New Style.

The bundles followed later Thousands sunsets (1971) and Cold feet (1983). He also made television programs such as Hoepla and The hole of the Netherlands.

In 2009 he was awarded the P.C. Hooft prize for poetry. The poet was praised “because of his humor, his commitment, his poetic daring and willfulness”.

Eight years later, a collection of collected poems by Verhagen was published, entitled Alle poems.
