Former Tottenham head coach Mauricio Pochettino in January refused an invitation to Barcelona.
There were three priority candidates on the shortlist of the Catalan club: it also included Javi and Ronald Kuman.
First, the refusal came from Xavi, then from Kuman, who decided to continue working with the Dutch team.
According to Marca, the offer of Barcelona was a surprise for Pochettino, given that he previously headed another club from the capital of Catalonia, Hispaniol.
Despite the fact that the coach immediately refused, Barca sent her representative to London to negotiate with the head of Tottenham, Daniel Levy, since formally Pochettino remained an employee of the English club until May 20 this year, so he could only accept another team with approval of the management of “spurs.”
However, the Argentinean position was unshakable. Marca writes that his decision was a matter of principle.
