Pneumonia Cases in Bengkulu: Causes, Symptoms, and Prevention

BENGKULU – Head of the Disease Control Management (P2P) Division of the Bengkulu Provincial Health Service, Ruslian, said that there had been 988 cases of pneumonia attacking the community from January to the 48th week of December 2023.

Pneumonia cases often attack children, with symptoms of fever, stones and prolonged colds. Ruslian said that Pneumonia is an ARI disease that is not treated, so it attacks the lower cavity of the lungs.

This disease is a complication of untreated ISPA, in the form of coughs, colds and influenza. So if left unchecked, this disease will get worse and become pneumonia.

“So this is an old disease caused by bacteria, not a virus. “This disease is transmitted through continuous coughing,” said Ruslian to Bengkulunews.co.id, Monday (11/12/23) afternoon.

He admitted that the data received were records from every hospital in Bengkulu Province. So monitoring is carried out by medical personnel at the community health center, reporting every week via the early alert system application.

Through this we will know whether there is an increase in cases every month. If there is, the Department will carry out further review for further action.

He asked people who experience these symptoms to immediately go to hospital for further treatment. He also appealed to the public to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

“Keep maintaining a clean and healthy lifestyle, wash your hands before eating. “Exercise and consume healthy food, and wear a mask,” said Ruslian.
