The Hyundai Palisade is a premium SUV segment from South Korea that has been marketed in Indonesia since 2020. Because it is in a different segment, Hyundai also refuses if the Palisade is aligned with SUVs from Japan such as the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Fortuner.
After being introduced in Indonesia at the end of 2020, PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID) in July 2022 released the New Hyundai Palisade, with changes in the exterior sector, as well as the addition of several advanced features, including Blue Link connectivity.
Unlike the Japanese SUVs, the New Hyundai Palisade carries a dashing design in the style of an American SUV. Even in terms of price, Palisade has a relatively higher price tag with a range of Rp. 842 million to Rp. 1.110 billion.

With these differences, the Chief of Operating Officer of PT Hyundai Motors Indonesia (HMID), Makmur, also disagrees if the New Hyundai Palisade is aligned with mainstream Japanese SUV models such as the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport and Toyota Fortuner. The Hyundai model that is suitable to be a competitor to the two is the Hyundai Santa Fe.
“Maybe I need to straighten it out a bit, so please study the vehicle segmentation. Incidentally this Palisade segment is above the Hyundai Santa Fe. And Santa Fe plays in the segment you mentioned earlier (Mitsubishi Pajero and Toyota Fortuner). So the Palisade segment is higher,” said Makmur in Jakarta.
Indeed, when compared in terms of price, the Toyota Fortuner and Mitsubishi Pajero Sport are cheaper than the Hyundai Palisade. Fortuner is priced at a price range of Rp. 545.3 million to Rp. 602.9 million. While the Pajero Sport costs between Rp 552.8 million to Rp 720.5 million.
According to Makmur, the Hyundai Palisade plays in the SUV segment E and F. This car is still completely imported from South Korea. The position of the Palisade is above the Hyundai Santa Fe which has a price tag of between Rp. 569 million to Rp. 629 million.
