PlayStation Store for PS3, PS VIta and PSP Closed Forever

Sony is rumored to be shutting down service forever PlayStation Stores for PS3, PS Vita and PSP will be available in July and August 2021. This means that all copies of digital games on Sony digital stores will no longer be available for purchase since that month.

Reported detikINET from Polygon, Tuesday (23/3/2021) an unnamed source told to TheGamer that Sony will close slowly starting from the PlayStation Store for PS3 and PSP will close on July 2.

Meanwhile, Sony will only close the PS Vita digital shop on August 27, 2021. Unfortunately, when Polygon will confirm it, Sony did not provide any response to this information.

For now, PS Vita and PS3 specific games can only be accessed via the PlayStation Store app while on the Web they can’t be found.

Sony has phased out its PlayStation Store console on PS3 for some regions between 2015 and 2016 before officially discontinuing production of the PlayStation 3 on May 29, 2017 in Japan. Meanwhile, the PS Vita, which was launched in the winter of 2011-2012, was officially closed in March 2019.

Closing PlayStation The store presents more problems for PS Vita users, given that many of the platform’s well-known games are developed independently and sold online.

Direct rewind support with PlayStation The 3 from the PlayStation 4 and 5 is not available like many Xbox 360 and previous games that were supported on the Xbox One and Xbox Series X.
