At its “The future of video games” event, Sony promised a preview of the first games on its PlayStation 5. It kept its promise by presenting several exhilarating gameplay extracts, but also went with its “one more thing“At the end of the presentation, revealing the design of its future console. The lines of the DualSense controller gave a clue to what we could expect and the console indeed fits perfectly with its controller.

Modernity rather than sobriety
It is therefore a very futuristic look that Sony presents here, in contrast to sobriety – or austerity, say its detractors – of Xbox Series X. The PlayStation 5 indeed presents slender lines, with a curvaceous design and a dominant of white, as for its DualSense controller. Blue lighting highlights its shiny black central part, on which we find the ignition button, the disc eject button, as well as 2 USB ports (USB-C and USB-A). No preview of the connectors located at the back for the moment.

A “Digital” version, without a disc player
With the dematerialized gaining more and more ground, it is not surprising to discover the PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, a version of the console without Blu-ray player Ultra HD 4K, but in all respects identical elsewhere. Also a way to offer a cheaper version of a PlayStation 5 which could be launched at a fairly high price, having regard to its technical characteristics. However, it will take some time before the Japanese reveals this highly strategic pricing information.
We are also waiting to see what solutions Sony will offer to extend the storage space of its PlayStation 5, since with an SSD of 825 GB, the number of games installed simultaneously on the console will necessarily be limited, at a time when installations of these flirt with 100 GB. Microsoft, for its part, has already planned SSD in the form of cartridges for its Xbox Series X.

A PlayStation 5 already well supported
The PlayStation 5 will not arrive alone at its release at the end of the year, since Sony has also revealed a charging station allowing to charge two DualSense controllers simultaneously, as well as an HD camera designed for streaming and equipped with 2 1080p objectives , a multimedia remote control with integrated microphone and finally a wireless headset called Pulse 3D, compatible with 3D audio technology and incorporating 2 microphones for active noise reduction.
