Seven years after the birth of the PS4 and only a few days after the revelation of the PlayStation 5, details are pouring in from all sides to try to give the most information on the next console from Sony. A task not so obvious when you know that many of these details relayed on the web contradict each other, even are wrong.
PlayStation 5 teasing and revelation
The June 11 conference marked a decisive step in the deployment of the new Japanese video game console. In this case, the conference live attracted more than 3.5 million people simultaneously (on YouTube and Twitch). The replay, meanwhile, has almost 25 million views on YouTube, less than a week after the conference.
The revelation video for the PlayStation 5 is therefore a proper teasing of just over three minutes. Among other features, the PS5 was immediately announced with two different versions: the “classic” edition of PlayStation 5, and the PlayStation Digital Edition. The latter is distinguished by the absence of the Blu-Ray player, which gives it a perfectly symmetrical design.

The specs of the PlayStation 5
In terms of performance and specs, Sony announced the arrival of a revolutionary console on the market, arousing the enthusiasm of thousands of fans across the globe.
Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney even announced that the PS5 is capable of surpassing the performance of games offered by PCs.
In the details, we can already trust some characteristics more telling than theories. Thus, among other components embedded in the PlayStation 5, we have:
- A SoC from the 3rd Generation Ryzen (AMD)
- An 8-core processor, clocked at 3.5GHz
- AMD GPU: RDNA 2 and its 10.28TFLOPS
- 16Gb of RAM in GDDR6, with a memory bus width of 256bits.
- Main storage provided by SSD Custom of 825Gb
- Secondary storage space for NVMe SSD
- 4K Blu-Ray Player (not available on PlayStation 5 Digital Edition)
A solid configuration that Sony is proud of in countless amateur and specialist forums. In this case, the SSD Custom 825Gb promises loading and reading speeds still unknown on existing consoles: with its 12-channel interface, this Solid State Drive promises up to 5.5GB / s in RAW and up to at 9GB / s in compressed.
In terms of graphics, we are even entitled to Ray Tracing (which was the prerogative of RTX cards from Nvidia) before the arrival of RDNA 2 from AMD. The PlayStation 5 therefore promises up to 120FPS on compatible screens (with a refresh rate greater than or equal to 120Hz). The icing on the cake, the HDMI 2.1 output will bring a whole new dimension to transfer speeds: 48Gbits / s!
Peripherals for the PS5
The close-ups are legion and give a very detailed overview of the console and its various dedicated accessories. In particular:
- the new Dual Sense Wireless Controllers
- the HD camera
- Pulse 3D wireless audio headset
- the multimedia remote control
PlayStation 5: release date and price
Announced for the end of 2020 celebrations by Sony, the PS5 is not yet available for pre-order. However, the most impatient can already register on the official PlayStation site as in some online stores, to be notified as soon as the console is available on the market.
Regarding prices, no official announcement has yet been made, leaving internet users free to speculate. The estimates through the canvas thus evoke prices starting at $ 400, to reach up to $ 800 for specific editions of the PlayStation 5. Finally, the various peripherals let imagine the arrival of various offers, offering bundles and more or less expensive packs.

Due to current health conditions, Sony will not be presenting its new console during E3 2020 (which has been canceled, by the way). Nevertheless, that did not prevent the announcement of many games under development for the PlayStation 5, and which promise wonders to the players.
